Heidi Beck,our Chief Number Cruncher, hails from New Orleans, Louisiana. Heidi earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2002. Throughout college and the years after, Heidi held several part-time jobs in the administrative/financial realm, including an executive assistant for a financial planner, bookkeeper for a large estate, tax preparer for H & R Block, and assistant director for a small non-profit. She also worked full-time as an employment specialist for adults with developmental disabilities. Heidi moved to the Pacific Northwest in September 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. She quickly found a job as a tax and executive assistant at an accounting firm in Oregon. While there, she helped prepare tax returns and took some accounting courses at the local community college.
In 2008, after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Heidi decided to pursue a new endeavor and began her own caregiving business. In this position, she combined her two passions of accounting and adults with special needs and became a representative payee and budgeting coach for adults with disabilities. Heidi owned her caregiving business for 13 years, and it was with a heavy heart that she opted to close the business and pursue a position with more flexibility. In her current position at Beck Business Solutions, Heidi loves working with small businesses each month and helping them grow their business. When not working her conventional jobs, Heidi enjoys secret shopping and gig work. She also enjoys hiking, reading non-fiction, and travel.
Brian Beck, our IT Solutions Builder, has been solving problems for business owners for more than 30 years. Born and raised in Southern California, he had an affinity for computers from a young age and turned it into a consulting practice in 1992 — and some of those earliest clients are still with him today.
Along the way, Brian’s work grew beyond technology. He was trained in bookkeeping by a CPA friend of the family in the late 1980s, and since the mid-1990s he has been setting up bookkeeping systems and handling the books for clients. He went on to earn his California tax preparer license and is now an Enrolled Agent, admitted to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
That combination — the systems behind a business and the numbers that run through them — is what he brings to every engagement. His clients range from small e-commerce shops to large manufacturing and retail operations, and he genuinely enjoys putting three decades of hard-won experience to work on a new problem.
Outside of work, Brian has raised four kids and can usually be found in his woodshop.
